Richard E Grant Reveals His First Reaction To The Classic ‘Loki’ Suit

Richard E. Grant was not pleased with his suit!

Loki star Richard E Grant has revealed his first reaction to his classic suit in the new Disney Plus series.

Last week’s episode of Loki had the God of Mischief going on an adventure with different versions of himself. The two show-stealers in the episode were the alligator version of the character and Richard E Grant as a classic, older version of Loki. In the episode, this older version showed just how powerful his illusion abilities were, ultimitly using them to allow Sylvie and Tom Hiddleston’s version of the character to escape.

Richard E Grant’s version of the God of Mischief notably had a different outfit from all the other of Lokis. Specifically, his outfit was based on the original design that was drawn by Jack Kirby when the character first appeared. While speaking to Collider, Grant revealed that when he first saw his Loki suit he was not pleased:

“I said three words: ‘Where’s the muscles?’ He said ‘What do you mean where’s the muscles?’ I said your costume design drawings and Jack Kirby’s original illustrations in the 60s comics, this guy had muscles. I said you’ve cast a guy who has no muscles and I said ‘Where are the muscles?’ They said ‘No you don’t need muscles!’ How can I fight Asguard if I’ve got no muscles? He’s got muscles! He’s in a muscle suit! That’s the whole point! Otherwise I’m just a Kermit in tights! And they said ‘Don’t worry about it. Use your magic as Loki.’ So I was very, very aggrieved that I wasn’t allowed to have a muscle suit and I still am!”
