No horse owner wants to witness their horses suffering. Horses are innocent, hardworking, graceful and elegant animals. Widely known across the world as a strong animal which provide the human world with many benefits within various sectors. However, in whichever area a person owns a horse, from a farm to a fair, it is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that the horse is always protected, taken proper care of and is immune and kept safely away from fatal diseases. You must keep always fly spray for horses because it takes care for any kind of injuries.

Before you decide on getting a horse of your own, do your research and see if you are willing to do all that you have to in order to make sure your horse is secure and healthy. I have listed out 4ways to prevent horses from being infected with diseases below:

1.      Regular Healthcare Check-Ups

First and foremost, as soon as you get a horse, a vet must enter into the picture. You and the vet must come up with a suitable parasite control program, which can include wormers, collecting manure and grazing rotations. The progress of the program must be regularly observed by the one taking care of the horse and ensuring infectious diseases are under control and include horse hygiene procedures.

2.      Isolation

When a new horse has entered the herd, you have to make sure the horse remains separated from the rest of the herd for a period of time as advised by your vet. The equipment utilized for grooming of the horse has to be different to what is used on the remainder of the herd.

This will allow a certain period of time to show if the horse is indeed infected with a disease. In the instance that the horse is infected, keep your hands clean, change your clothing and keep a footbath full of disinfectant before handling other horses. Let the vet organize the needed procedure to nurse the horse back to health.

3.      Vaccinations & Sprays

If horses are injured it is very easy to get infected with the tetanus virus. This is mainly due to the surrounding of the horses. Such as the presence of manure. Consult the vet on what other vaccinations are required for your horse. For instance, horses can be vaccinated against illnesses like equine influenza or equine herpes. In addition, ensure to keep fly spray for horses nearby in case the animals get wounded. This is important in preventing flies from irritating wounds and spreading other diseases to the horse.

4.      Quality Food and Teeth Filing

Horses need hay or pasture in order to maintain their health. Buying cheap hay can cost you in the future. You could be putting your horse at risk as cheaper roughage contains less nutrients and will be less beneficial to the growth and health of your horse. The healthier the roughage, the more immunity the horse can produce to fight against sicknesses.

Moreover, as horses are with humans and regularly have the same type of feed, the teeth wear could become uneven. In order to prevent this, file the teeth as often as needed and let your vet consistently check your horse’s teeth for other issues caused due to the unevenness. Such as a loose tooth or bacterial infection on any of the teeth.

Use these four methods and ensure to keep your horse healthy and protected from deadly diseases.
