The Full List – Deadline
The nominations for the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards are being announced Tuesday beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET/8:30 a.m. PT, the climax of a season in TV almost fully impacted by the pandemic. To be eligible, programs must have aired between June 1, 2020, and May 31, 2021.
Ron Cephas Jones and Jasmine Cephas Jones will reveal nominees in 23 primetime categories during this morning’s virtual presentation including the marquee Best Drama and Best Comedy races. Both are wide open this year, with last year’s runaway comedy winner Schitt’s Creek ended and Drama winner Succession among the major shows not eligible this time around including perennial nominees like HBO’s Insecure, AMC’s Better Call Saul and Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Another category to watch will be Limited Series, probably this season’s most competitive category, with the likes of The Queen’s Gambit, Mare of Easttown, I May Destroy You, The Underground Railroad, The Good Lord Bird, WandaVision, The Undoing, A Teacher, Your Honor and Small Axe among the prestige titles vying for just five spots.
After today’s noms are set, final voting by members of the Television Academy will run from August 19-30.
The Primetime Emmys will air live Sunday, September 19, on CBS and stream on Paramount+. The Neighborhood star Cedric the Entertainer was just set to host the ceremony, which after a virtual 2020 ceremony will be held in-person at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, featuring a limited audience of nominees and their guests.
