Report Says Marvel Won’t Release WandaVision & Other Shows On Blu-Ray
Better renew that Disney Plus subscription.
A report suggests that Marvel Studios and Disney Plus won’t be releasing WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and other Marvel shows on Blu-ray.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded in two ways over the last year by producing original episodic content and delivering straight to consumers through Disney Plus. Fans get to watch shows like WandaVision or Loki as soon as they launch, with the money directly going to Disney, cutting out the middleman like cinemas or store retailers. Streaming has been extremely advantageous in the modern era but it certainly has its drawbacks for hardcore cinephile and audiophiles who prefer the ability to watch their favorite programs in the highest quality possible.
Physical media purists and collectors might be disappointed to hear that the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe entries won’t be making their way to Blu-ray anytime soon. TVLine is “hearing at this time, there are no plans to” release the latest Marvel projects like WandaVision onto physical media. The report did, however, suggest that fans should “never say never!” as things can always change. Netflix similarly made the bold decision in its early days as a content producer. However, after an outcry from fans and physical media purists, they’ve begun to release Blu-rays for some of their more popular shows like House of Cards and Stranger Things. Who knows, maybe in a year or two, Marvel Studios will release their Disney Plus series’ as well?
