Octavia Spencer & Kate Hudson Star – Deadline

“Poppy, I need you to help me. I want to know who murdered my husband,” says Kate Hudson’s Micah to Octavia Spencer’s Poppy in Season 2 of Apple original drama series Truth Be Told. Apple TV+ has unveiled a teaser trailer for the second season of the NAACP Image Award-winning series, starring and executive produced by Spencer. The streamer has set Friday, August 20 for the Season 2 premiere with the first episode, followed by new episodes weekly every Friday.

Created by Nichelle Tramble Spellman and produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content, Season 2 of the anthology series provides a glimpse into America’s obsession with true crime podcasts. Per the logline, investigative reporter turned true crime podcaster Poppy Parnell (Spencer) dives into a new case that deeply involves her childhood friend, media mogul Micah Keith (Hudson). As developments unfold, their lifelong friendship is put to the ultimate test.

Also joining the sophomore season are series regulars Christopher Backus, Alona Tal, David Lyons, Andre Royo, Merle Dandridge, and Mychala Faith Lee. Returning cast includes Mekhi Phifer, Michael Beach, Ron Cephas Jones, Tracie Thoms, Haneefah Wood, Tami Roman, and Katherine LaNasa.

Serving as executive producers alongside Spellman are Spencer; Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine; Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping for Chernin Entertainment; and Mikkel Nørgaard.
