Jada Pinkett Smith Shares Unreleased Tupac Shakur Poem In Honor Of His 50th Birthday
Wednesday would have marked the 50th birthday for the late and great Tupac Shakur, and many of his friends and fans celebrated his life as they continued to keep his memory alive.
One person who took to social media to celebrate his special day was his friend Jada Pinkett Smith. She took to Instagram and Twitter to share a poem entitled “Lost Soulz,” that Tupac had personally given to her back in the day. She said, “As many of you know, today is Pac’s birthday. He would have been 50 this year, and of course, I went down memory lane. Over the years Pac wrote me, many letters and many poems, and I don’t think this one has ever been published.”
She continued, “He had a song called ‘Lost Souls,’ on the ‘Gang Related’ Soundtrack, but I believe this was the original concept because he wrote this I believe when he was at Rikers. And I was like, ‘I don’t think he would have minded if I shared this with you guys.’”
Jada proceeded to recite the poem as she showed off his handwritten work on camera.
As many fans know, both Tupac and Jada shared a special friendship. They were friends before the fame and attended the same performing arts high school in Baltimore. They maintained their close friendship even while both of their careers began to skyrocket.
As we previously reported, last year when Jada’s husband, Will Smith made a visit to The Breakfast Club, he shared that he was once jealous of the love Tupac and Jada shared for each other in their friendship.
At the time he said, “They never had a sexual relationship, but now they had come into that age where that was a possibility, and Jada was with me. She just loved him. He was the image of perfection, but she was with the ‘Fresh Prince,’ so it was, like, we were in the room together a couple of times, I couldn’t speak to him. He wasn’t going to speak to me if I wasn’t going to speak to him.”
He later spoke further on the situation on his Instagram and added, “I was so Jealous of Pac that it kept me from ever even speaking to him. Insecurity is a Vicious Dragon.”
