Forgive me while I try to start this as only Cher from CLUELESS would. “I’m, like, totally buggin” over the fact that Alicia Silverstone, who played Cher Horowitz in 1995’s teen classic, Clueless, is now on TikTok and she’s recreating one of her most iconic moments. I mean, “As If” she wouldn’t join TikTok.
Silverstone took to the popular social media platform and donned her signature plaid suit jacket and found a new co-star in her ten-year-old son Bear Blu Jarecki. As No Doubt’s “Just A Girl” plays over the video, Silverstone walks in front of the camera before pushing Bear away as she lip-syncs Cher’s iconic line: “Ew, get off of me! Ugh, as if!” The key difference here is, while she shoves the unwanted advance off her in the original film to never see the guy again, she and her son finish their video with a hug. A lot of TikTok users have been recreating that particular moment from Clueless and it’s only right that the star of the film got in on it. Not to be outdone, the actor who portrayed the original guy trying to grope Cher, David Busch, also joined the TikTok craze by recreating the moment himself with a different girl. He is even wearing his original green sweatshirt from the film, which was his very own piece of clothing at the time. Did you ever think you’d see this guy again? That’s the power of TikTok I guess. You can check out his video below!
Clueless was written and directed by Amy Heckerling and it stars Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, Paul Rudd, Donald Faison, and Breckin Meyer. Released in 1995, the film is loosely based on Jane Austen’s novel “Emma” but it switches its setting to a modern-day Beverly Hills. The story centers on Cher Horowitz (Silverstone), a beautiful, popular and rich high school student who befriends a new student named Tai Frasier (Murphy) and decides to give her a makeover. Clueless became an instant pop-cultural phenomenon, grossing $56.1 million on a $12 million budget and it’s widely considered by critics and movie lovers alike to be one of the best teen films of all time.
