Phylicia Rashad Writes Formal Letter Apologizing To Howard University After Celebrating Bill Cosby’s Release From Prison
After her controversial tweet celebrating the release of Bill Cosby from prison, Phylicia Rashad decided to apologize to all the Howard University students and their parents since she was recently hired as the dean there. Check out what the former The Cosby Show actress had to say!
While the backlash is still ongoing on social media, Phylicia Rashad sent a former letter to HBCU’s Fine Arts College in which she not only apologized but also vowed to participate in training to change for the better as a leader.

Rashad has also deleted the tweet that got her in hot water earlier this week that read: ‘FINALLY!!!! A terrible wrong is now being righted – a miscarriage of justice’s corrected!’
Her formal letter reads: ‘This week, I tweeted a statement which caused so much hurt in many people – both broadly and inside the Howard community. I offer my most sincere apologies. I have removed that upsetting tweet since. My remarks were in no way directed at survivors of assault. I vehemently oppose sexual violence, I find no excuse for such behavior, and know that Howard University has a zero tolerance policy for interpersonal violence. Over the next weeks, I plan to engage in active listening and to participate in trainings to not only reinforce the University’s protocol and conduct, but to also learn how I can become a stronger ally to survivors and everyone who’s suffered at the hands of an abuse.’
The former actress concluded her letter by saying: ‘Thank you for voicing your concerns, for speaking your truth and holding leaders accountable for our actions and words.’

While she’s realized her comment was considered insensitive by victims, Rashad is yet to reveal whether or not her opinion that Cosby is innocent has changed.
