Teyonah Parris Teases Monica Rambeau’s Relationship With Captain Marvel
Teyonah Parris has teased adult Monica Rambeau’s relationship with Captain Marvel in the upcoming The Marvels.
Monica Rambeau first appeared as a child in 2019’s Captain Marvel, where she sparked an unlikely acquaintanceship with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers. Rambeau later appeared in this year’s WandaVision as an adult, who receives powers after breaking through Wanda Maximoff’s Hex. Adult Rambeau actor Teyonah Parris is set to reprise her role in the upcoming The Marvels, which stands as a sequel to Larson’s Captain Marvel.
Teyonah Parris believes that Monica Rambeau’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems bright. In a recent interview with Variety, she discussed how the character will be further explored in The Marvels.
“With Monica, we’ve established who she is in ‘WandaVision,’ and in ‘The Marvels,’ we have an opportunity to further understand who this woman is. Having a woman of color at the helm of furthering this story of one of the few super-powered female, African American beings, I think it’s really special.”
Teyonah Parris continued by discussing how Monica Rambeau’s relationship with Captain Marvel will also be explored in the sequel. Hints throughout WandaVision implied that Rambeau and Danvers had a falling out of sorts, which should build up some tension in The Marvels.
“Little Monica had a relationship with Carol Danvers, and we’ll get to see what happens with that relationship, and how or if, it brings them to the present.”
