Telluride Film Festival 2021 Announces Barry Jenkins as Guest Director

Barry Jenkins, has been tapped to select films for the expanded 2021 edition of the prestigious film festival, returning to the fest that first screened Moonlight.

The 48th annual Telluride Film Festival will take place Sept. 2-6, 2021. Telluride is best known within the industry for its role in launching successful Oscar campaign’s of many nominated films including, Moonlight, SpotlightBirdman and 12 Years a Slave, to name a few Best Picture winners. The festival’s guest director program is typically devoted to rediscovering older films. Previous guest directors have included Salman Rushdie, Stephen Sondheim and Laurie Anderson. Barry Jenkins, was still making his selections during mid-June, in the midst of promoting his Amazon Studios limited series Underground Railroad. Barry promises his selection will focus on including filmmakers of color.
