‘Loki’ Writer On Jaimie Alexander’s Sif Returning To The MCU
Lady Sif will next be seen in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Loki writer Michael Waldron discussed Jaimie Alexander’s Sif returning to the MCU.
The fourth episode of Loki was one of the most jam-packed episodes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we’ve ever seen. Filled with easter eggs, references, callbacks, and twists and turns to keep guessing throughout the week, the episode was proof that the MCU could still deliver consistent thrills even on the small screen. One of the most memorable moments from the episode included the return of Jaimie Alexander’s Sif, who last appeared in the MCU in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World.
The scene shows Loki stuck in a horrible time loop where he’s confronted by Lady Sif after she finds her hair cut by the mischievous trickster. She continually berates him and walks off the screen, only for her to return, damning Loki for all of eternity (until he’s pulled out by Mobius). Alexander’s cameo comes ahead of her appearance in next year’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
In an interview with CBR, Loki writer Michael Waldron broke down the importance of Jaimie Alexander’s return and how her hilarious but heartfelt scene was lifted straight from Norse mythology.
“I think it was cool to just do a nod to actual Norse mythology and the story of Loki cutting Sif’s hair, which is a real thing from the comic books and the mythology. Anytime we get to do that, that’s really cool.”
“And Lady Sif is awesome! She’s a badass, fan-favorite character… She wasn’t dispatched by Hela in Ragnarok. She felt like somebody uniquely suited to really kneeing Loki in the nuts and punching him in the face a couple of times. So we were excited to get her in there, and she did a fantastic job.”
