Kelsey Grammer thinks new series will launch next year

Frasier, revival, reboot, Kelsey Grammer

It was announced earlier this year that Dr. Frasier Crane would be returning for a brand-new series destined for the Paramount+ streaming service. “Having spent over 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and performing in several, I’d like to congratulate Paramount+ on its entry into the streaming world,” said Kelsey Grammer in a statement. “I gleefully anticipate sharing the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr. Frasier Crane.” After several years of rumours, it seemed a little surreal that the project was now moving forward, but when will we actually get to see the new series?

While speaking with Collider, Kelsey Grammer offered an update on the Frasier revival, teasing that the first episodes will likely launch early next year.

Well, we don’t actually have a date when we’re going to start filming. We’re still kind of breaking the story a little bit, we’re doing a polish now. When will we see a Frasier? Probably in the first quarter of next year.

When the Frasier revival does start shooting, Kelsey Grammer is hopeful that they’ll be able to “get most of the actors back.” Although Grammer admits that this new story could be told without the involvement of Niles (David Hyde Pierce), Daphne (Jane Leeves), and Roz (Peri Gilpin), he hopes they’ll return as he’s always thought that they should “explore all their lives in their third act.

Kelsey Grammer has previously teased that when Frasier does return, audiences should be prepared for a different version of the series. “We’ll see how people respond to it, because it’s not gonna be the same place, not gonna be Seattle, it’s not gonna be the same Frasier, it’s gonna be the man in his next iteration. Hopefully that’ll be something people like watching,” he said, adding that the revival will be about “his search for love, for one thing, I think that will always go on with Frasier, but [also] a connection with his son.
