Jason Segel, Lily Collins, Jesse Plemons to star in Netflix noir

Windfall, Jason Segel, Lily Collins, Jesse Plemons, noir, Netflix

Get yourself a trench coat, a fedora, and a flickering street lamp to stand under because Netflix is developing a modern-day noir with Charlie McDowell on board to direct. Titled Windfall, the project stars Jason Segel (Dispatches From Elsewhere, Freaks and Geeks), Lily Collins (Emily in Paris, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones), and Jesse Plemons (Antlers, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie). Segel developed the story, which has Justin Lader and Andrew Kevin Walker set to write the script. The trio of actors will also produce alongside Alex Orlovsky, Duncan Montgomery, and Jack Selby. David Duque Estrada and Elika Portnoy executive produce for Mutressa Movies in addition to Rick Covert.

Windfall is described as a Hitchcockian thriller following a young couple who arrive at their vacation home only to find it’s being robbed.

Segel recently starred in his AMC anthology series Dispatches From Elsewhere, one of my favorite recent years. It’s a twisty tale of unlikely strangers who come together to solve a series of riddles and come out to the other side as better people. In my opinion, it’s inspirational, super-meta, and truly unique. You should give it a try. Collins recently starred in the controversial yet chart-topping Netflix series Emily in Paris, while Plemons is currently filming Killers of the Flower Moon for Martin Scorsese.

After thoroughly enjoying Segel’s Dispatches From Elsewhere, I’m game to check out anything he has coming down the line. In fact, the idea of him tackling a noir tale has me very intrigued. Let’s do this.
