Growing up is a beast in new trailer and poster

Disney and Pixar have unveiled a new trailer and poster for the upcoming all-new original feature film Turning Red. This charming coming-of-age story hails from Bao director Domee Shi and focuses on Mei Lee, a 13-year-old who suddenly “poofs” into a giant red panda when she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS). While the poster features a close-up of Mei’s nerve-wracked red panda form, the trailer finds her experiencing an embarrassing transformation at school. With nowhere to hide, Mei escapes to a cluster of nearby rooftops. Soon, a bit of property damage will be the least of her concerns.
Turning Red stars newcomer Rosalie Chiang as Mei Lee, Sandra Oh (Killing Eve, The Chair) as her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming, who is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager.

Boy, oh boy. I think many of us can relate to being embarrassed by our parents at such a young age. Things are already tough all over during adolescence. Add a nosy parent to the mix, and it’s no wonder Mei magically transforms into a giant red panda. I sure hope that she and her mother find common ground before the events of the film come to a close, otherwise Mei’s teen years and going to be… wait for it… pandamonium!
Disney and Pixar’s Turning Red releases March 11, 2022.
