David Harbour On Where Red Guardian Was During ‘Avengers: Endgame’

He was at home, washing his tights!

Black Widow star David Harbour addressed Red Guardian’s absence from the final battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.

Marvel Studios is doing a prequel for the first time with Black Widow, and the film will introduce several new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avengers: Endgame featured everyone and takes place after the upcoming film’s events, so why didn’t we see David Harbour’s Red Guardian or Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova avenge Black Widow’s death?

The short answer is the Marvel film was made after the fact. However, we already know Yelena Belova will turn up in Hawkeye, but what about David Harbour’s Red Guardian? In an interview with ComicBook.com, Harbour talked about his character’s absence in Avengers: Endgame:

“I mean the fun thing about this entire thing is that we go back and we build out this structure for something new. So all this new content with a lot of information about the movies that moves forward with these other projects, the new Phase. And you also get to introduce these new characters. Cate Shortland and I had all kinds of speculations about where Red Guardian is, and what happens to him. There was a lot of fun ideas that we had, but I haven’t asked [Kevin] Feige himself. I’ll do that later.”

Where do you think David Harbour’s Red Guardian was during Avengers: Endgame? Do you think he will die in Black Widow? Speculate in the comments section below!
